Two companies explore for copper, gold in W. Nusa Tenggara

Two mining companies are continuing exploration activities on Sumbawa Island in West Nusa Tenggara where PT Newmont Nusa Teggara (PTNNT) operates a huge copper and gold mine, MinergyNews.Com reported Thursday.
They are PT Sumbawa Mining and PT Dinasti, which are looking for copper and gold exploration in Dompu and Bima, respectively.
The head of the West Nusa Tenggara office of energy and mineral resources, Syafruddin, was quoted as saying that both companies remained uncertain about the amounts of copper and gold reserves contained in their exploration areas.
Denver-based Newmont Mining Corporation, the world?s largest gold producer, controls PTNNT which operates Batu Hitam mine on Sumbawa. (*)
