Two oil and gas companies have submitted letters expressing interest to farm into the South Matindok block offshore East Sulawesi, owned by Canadian oil and gas firm Niko Resources Ltd, according to an industry source.

The source told Petromindo.com that the two companies were Bermuda-based firm AziPac Limited and Thai oil and gas firm PTTEP.

Previously, Public Relations Manager at Niko Resources Zizy Shobirin told Petromindo.com that the size of stake in the block to be farmed out was generally around 20-30 percent.

The block, covering an area of 5,182 sqkm, was awarded on Nov 13, 2008. Niko has a 100 percent interest in the block.

In February 2010, Niko reported the completion of 2D seismic survey programs in the South Matindok block. Niko has announced its plans to carry out a 4,400 km of 2D seismic program over the block.

The company also has interests in 19 oil and gas blocks, offshore Indonesia.
