Two production sharing contract (PSC) firms, namely PT Karya Inti Petroleum (KIP) and PT Radiant Bukit Barisan (RBB), have finished their drilling campaigns in Sumatra, according to upstream authority SKK Migas.

KIP has finished the drilling of Langite-1 exploration well in Lirik II PSC in Riau, while RBB has finished the drilling of Sinaar-2 exploration well in South West Bukit Barisan PSC in central Sumatra, Adi Nugroho, spokesperson for the Northern Sumatra chapter of SKK Migas, said.

The drillings were completed at the end of last year, but SKK Migas has yet to be informed whether they were successful or not.

The Lirik II block covers a total area 3,692 sq km. The government awarded the block to KIP (100 percent) on November 13, 2008. The South West Bukit Barisan PSC covers a total area of 3,895 sq km. The block was awarded to RBB (51 percent) and PC (SKR) International Ltd (49 percent) in 2008.
