Two investors plan gold exploitation in Bengkulu

Two investors have expressed interest to mine for gold in Bengkulu province in southern Sumatra which reportedly has some 3.4 million tons of proven and probable gold reserves, Antara news agency reported.

The investors, PT Panca Mineral Tama and PT Petromin Resources, have conducted surveys in three regencies in Bengkuly namely Rejang Lebong, South Bengkulu and North Bengkulu, according to the agency.

Fauzan Rahim, the head of Bengkulu?s development planning office, said the 3.4 million tons comprised 3.3 million tons of proven reserve in Rejang Lebong and North Bengkulu, and 100,000 tons of probable reserve in South Bengkulu.

Meanwhile, Australian listed gold explorer Exco Resources said in August it would commence drilling in Manna gold prospect in Bengkulu this year.

Exco has 90 percent interest in Manna gold project. (*)
