Two Malaysian accountants arrested while performing task at PT.Inco

Two Malaysian accountants working for accounting firm KPMG were arrested by South Sulawesi police in August 2005 when performing task for nickel miner PT.Inco and had since been held in custody, Malaysia's Berita Harian reported on Monday.

Malaysia deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said Malaysian embassy in Jakarta is trying to get the two accountants released.

According to the report, the two accountants; Choo Yao Chin, 24, dan Raimala Sivalingam, 29 were arrested because performing service for PT.Inco without working permit.

Choo, according top the report, was held in a prison in Makassar, the capital city of South Sulawesi, while Ramaila was held at a hospital because the city does not have prison for women.

The report said the two entered Indonesia from Bali on July 27 and were arrested in Sorowako, South Sulawesi 20 days later.(*)
