Two men identified as Suherdi (26) and Tantowi (27) were killed on Thursday when conducting maintenance works at the oil drilling facilities of the Coastal Plain Pekanbaru (CPP) oil block in Riau province, Suara Karya reported on Saturday.

The newspaper reported that the two men hired by the oil block operator PT Bumi Siak Pusako-PT Pertamina were electrocuted when they were repairing the drilling facilities at the oil block.

According to the daily, the incident occurred when the two men, the workers of the CPP oil block operator's subcontractor PT Orbid Abadi Sakti, were trying to connect an electric cable in one of the oil rigs in the oil block.

The incident went so fast that the other workers could do nothing to help the ill-fated Suherdi and Tantowi, said the public relations officer of PT Bumi Siak Pusako-PT Pertamina. (*)
