State-owned electricity firm PT PLN expects two stunted coal-fired power plant (PLTU) projects in West Kalimantan Province to soon resume construction and be completed this year.
Aji Sutrisno, a General Manager of PLN West Kalimantan regional office, told Petromindo.com on Friday that the two projects are PLTU Parit Baru (Kalbar 1) and PLTU Parit Baru (Kalbar 3), each with capacity of 2x50 MW.
He said that Kalbar 1 is expected to start operation in October, and Kalbar 3 in December of this year.
Aji said that PLN will soon hold talks with the contractor of the two PLTU projects, a consortium led by Indo Fuji to resume their construction. Construction progress of the two projects had reached around 80 percent when they?re suspended.
Meanwhile, another stunted project, PLTU Pantai Kura-Kura (Kalbar 2) with capacity of 2x27.5 MW, is targeted to start operation in December of 2018. Progress of the project had also reached around 80 percent when it was stalled.
Elsewhere, Aji said that PLTU Kalbar 1 and 3 will each require coal supply of 569,400 tons per year, while Kalbar 2 around 313,170 tons per year.
?We?re optimistic the three projects will start operation as targeted,? he said.
