U.S.-based company Material Service International Inc. (MSI) is in talks with Indonesian tin miner PT Timah to purchase around 800 tons of tin per month from the latter.

MSI executive vice president William F. Bailey is in town to negotiate with Timah. On Thursday Bailey and other company executives met with Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Purnomo Yusgiantoro.

William told reporters that the company needed additional tin supply to meet rising demand of tin-related materials in the U.S.

An MSI official said that a trial shipment of 120 tons of tin to Ohio had been conducted last year.(dino)
