The U.S. government on Monday awarded Indonesia?s state gas distributor PGN a grant of US$655,000 for a feasibility study on the firm?s plan to pipe natural gas from oil and gas rich East Kalimantan to Java.
U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Ralph L. Boyce and PGN president director WMP Simandjuntak signed the grant award at the latter?s office. Boyce acted on behalf of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency which awarded the grant.
The feasibility study will involve the evaluation of natural gas supply from East Kalimantan, Java?s demand for gas, and the prospective gas pipeline between East Kalimantan and Java. The pipeline is estimated to reach 1,100 kilometers.
About one billion cubic feet of natural gas per day is planned to be transmitted daily through the pipeline. (godang)
