Power firm PT Universal Batam Energy (UBE), a subsidiary of PT Medco Power Indonesia, plans to expand the capacity of its power plant in Tanjung Uncang district on Batam Island to 110 MW.

Currently UBE operates two units of the PLTG Tanjung Uncang gas-fired power plant, each with capacity of 35 MW.

Hartono Indriyanto, UBE's Director, told Petromindo.com on Friday that the expansion plan will see the company developing a combined-cycle power plant (PLTGU) with capacity of 40 MW, which is expected to complete by 2020.

"So for the additional capacity of 40 MW, we will develop PLTGU power plant not PLTG," he said, adding that the company has started to collect the documents needed for developing the power plant. "We should start collecting the document from now since the construction will take a long time," he said.
