UCI acquiring a coal concession in Berau

Coal mining company PT United Coal Indonesia (UCI) is in the process of acquiring a coal concession owned by PT Energi Persada Nusantara located in Sukan district, Berau regency, East Kalimantan.
President Director Taufik Surya Dharma told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the concession is about 4,900 hectares with calorie content of 3500 kcal/kg GAR.
"Currently it is still conducting drilling activity. So far the reserve that has been discovered reaches about 17 million ton. Hopefully the reserve will be higher once the drilling activity has been completed,? he said.
Taufik said the company is expecting to start production from this concession in August 2014.
