UNCTAD works on a model of mining program in Kalimantan

Olle Ostensson, a representative of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is working on a model for the development of a large-scale mining project in Central Kalimantan, Banjarmasin Post reported on Tuesday.

Spokesman for Central Kalimantan administration, Harun Al Rasyid, said that the plan to make a model on a large-scale mining project was unveiled recently by the UNCTAD representative in a meeting with Central Kalimantan Governor Asmawi Agani.

He said that Ostensson had also asked the permission from the governor to collect important information for his preparation to choose a model in the province?s mining sector.

Harun said that the model for the large-scale mining project would be exposed to international organizations in the world in efforts to attract investors to take advantage of the province?s rich natural resources.

"The presence of UNCTAD representative is expected to become a display window for the province to the world?s international organizations," he added. (*)
