UNDP to provide $8m for micro hydro projects in Jambi

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has signed a MoU with Bank Jambi to provide up to US$8 million funds to help finance the development of micro hydro power plant projects in villages in Jambi Province which have yet to receive electricity supply.
Maritje Hutapea, Director of Miscellaneous Renewable Energies at the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said that UNDP and Bank Jambi had on April 20 signed a MoU to help support micro hydro power plant projects in Jambi.
?The cooperation between UNDP and Bank Jambi is worth about US$8 million for five years,? she said to Petromindo.com late last week.
Maritje said the cooperation between UNDP and Bank Jambi, is included in the planned Market Transformation Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (MTRE3), which envisages the development of up to 15 MW of renewable power plants in Jambi particularly hydro and solar.
