Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Archandra Tahar called for a unified strategy among related ministries to help accelerate investment and development of the mining and energy sectors in Indonesia.
Archandra said on Tuesday that permitting process in the mining and energy sectors still needs further improvement as it involves several ministries among others Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Forestry and Environment.
"We need unified strategy among related ministries. Each ministry still implements its own KPI (Key Performance Index)," Archandra said at an event commemorating Mining and Energy Day in Jakarta.
Archandra pointed out as an example on dual authorities in the issuance of permit for investment in smelter industry, the MEMR and Ministry of Industry. "Who actually should issue the permit?" he questioned.
Archandra also mentioned that MEMR continuously communicates with related ministries to provide incentives and benefits for investors in mining and energy sectors.
