United Power to develop power plant in Kendal industrial estate

PT United Power, a subsidiary of independent power producer PT Bekasi Power, is set to develop a gas-fired power plant at the Kendal industrial estate in Central Java Province.
United Director Djefi Cantono said on Wednesday the company has obtained all the necessary permits to develop the power plant, except the power tariff agreement. He said that the power plant will have total capacity of up to 810 MW to meet demand at the estate.
According to Law No 30/2009 and Bylaw No 8/2012, private power companies are allowed to develop power plants in industrial estates, with electricity tariff to be determined by provincial administration with approval of the local legislative council.
Meanwhile, Head of Commission D of the Central Java Legislative Council, Alwin Basri was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying that the council supports the planned development of power plant project at the Kendal industrial estate as sufficient and quality power supply is one of the key factors to be able to attract manufacturing tenants into the industrial estate.
