United Tractor's subsidiary boosts coal sales

South Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Dasa Eka Jasatama (DEJ), a unit of publicly-listed heavy equipment distributor PT United Tractors (UT), increased coal sales by more than two folds to 282,000 tons in January 2008 from 134,000 tons in the same month of last year.

But, compared to the previous month, coal sales decreased from 399,000 tons, UT said in a statement on Thursday.

DEJ?s coal sales throughout 2007 totaled 3.56 million tons.

DEJ's coal product is sold to Noble Group and Glencore AG through UT's coal British Virgin Island-based trading arm Scenic Worldwide Ltd. under term contracts. (denny)
