Unocal receives zero accident award

Unocal Indonesia Company, a unit US independent oil and gas company Unocal Corp, operating in East Kalimantan, has received a zero accident award for the company?s successful efforts in preventing work accident during the past three years, Kaltim Post reported Tuesday.

The award was presented by President Megawati to Unocal?s president for Southeast Asia Brian Marcotte during a ceremony at the State Palace on Monday. Other award recipients include Pertamina?s units for upstream operation (DOH) and marketing, PT Thiess, PT H&H International, Orica Mining Service and PT Apexindo.

According to Unocal?s Area Government Relations, Satria Djaya, the award was given to companies which have at least 100 workers and recorded a zero accident consecutively in three years or 6 million work hours.

Unocal which uses Operations Management System (OMS) also received a similar award last year. This year?s award marked the company?s success to prevent work accident consecutively for at least 15 million hours. (*)
