US oil producer Unocal Corporation said Monday its West Seno project in Makassar Strait production sharing contract (PSC) area offshore East Kalimantan could come on production in mid-June as initially scheduled.
First production from the field would be between 12,000 and 13,000 barrels per day (BPD) of oil, ramping up to 45,000 by year-end, Unocal Indonesia president director Brian W. G. Marcotte told reporters.
Marcotte on Monday accompanied Unocal Corporation CEO R. Williamson to meet with oil and gas director general Iin Arifin Takhyan.
Meanwhile, Iin Arifin said Unocal was exploring opportunities to sell its gas from West Seno to several countries including Japan and Korea.
Unocal, through its unit Unocal Makassar, is operator of the Makassar Strait PSC with a 90-percent working interest. Meanwhile, the state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina hold the remaining 10-percent interest. (godang)
