Unocal to provide explanation to Kadin over tender protest

Oil and gas company PT Unocal Indonesia Company will meet with the East Kalimantan office of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry or Kadin to explain the various tender results in the company, which have been protested by several participants including by PT H&H International.

But Unocal spokesman Samsulistyo was quoted by the local Kaltim Post daily as saying that the exact date of the meeting with Kadin had yet to be decided.

H&H, a local contractor based in Balikpapan, recently sent a protest letter to Kadin over the tender result at Unocal. The tender for the US$4.9 million general fabrication service project was won by PT GNU.

H&H president Sutjirda protested, saying that GNU was supposed to be disqualified. He argued that the project was supposed to given to local contractors, while GNU was based in Java, while GNU was based in Java. (*)
