Unocal to resume West Seno production

Unocal Indonesia, a unit of US oil major Chevron said on Friday oil and gas production in deepwater West Seno in Makassar Strait would resume shortly.

?We hope operations can be resumed in the next one or two days,? said Unocal Indonesia spokesperson Usman Slamet. He said production at the field would start at low rate and would gradually resumed to pre-shutdown level of 23,000BPD of crude and 110 MMCFD of natural gas. He, however, did not say when the normal production would be reached.

Unocal shut down West Seno field early this month on scheduled maintenance.

Gas production from West Seno is piped to Bontang LNG plant.

West Seno, located in the Makassar Strait PSC area, is the first deepwater oil and gas project in Indonesia. The PSC is operated and 90 percent owned by Unocal Corp., which had just merged with Chevron. Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, holds the remaining interest. (godang)
