State electricity company PT PLN has received bidding documents from six coal companies wishing to supply coal for the 10,000 MW power plant project.

Initially, there were 15 coal firms which passed the pre-qualification phase of the tender, but only six of them ? that is PT Baramutiara Prima, PT Surya Sakti Darma Kencana, PT Arutmin, PT Titan Mining Energy, Consortium of PT Kasih Industri Indonesia and PT Senamas

Energindo Mulya and Consortium of PT Padang Bara Sukses Makmur and PT Bhumi Rantau Energi ? submitted their final bidding documents.

The other nine companies decided not to take part in the bidding for various reasons, Tony Agus Mulyantono, PLN?s primary energy deputy said on Friday.

He said PLN wanted that each of the power plants to be built under the 10,000 MW program will get two suppliers to ensure security of supply.

All the 10,000 MW power plants will need a total of 21.58 million tons of coal per year, once they all come into production.

?The letters of intent (for the coal supply) are expected to be signed early November followed by the signing of contracts early next year. First delivery is expected to come in 2009, depending on the commissioning,? Tony said. (Godang)
