South Kalimantan-based coal mining firm PT. Arutmin Indonesia is planning to dramatically increase 2002 production to 18.3 million tons, from 10.50 million tons last year, a company executive said.

?We have submit the plan to produce 18.3 million tons this year to the government and still waiting for approval,? said Company official Sonny Pangestu Friday.

Sonny said the increase would mainly come from new mine in Batu Licin in Kota Baru regency and increased volume from Satui and Senakin mines.

If the plan approved, Arutmin will become the second largest coal producer after PT. Adaro Indonesia, which predicts 21 million tons output this year. (godang)
