Update: Java-Bali electricity system goes off due to supply drop from power plants

State electricity firm PLN said Thursday that sudden drop of electricity supply from its power plants by 30 percent had caused disruption in Java-Bali electricity system.
PLN senior official Muljo Adji there were technical problems at the Unit 6 and 7 of its Suaralaya 3,400 MW coal fired power plant in Western part of Java, Paiton II 1,220 coal-fired power plant and Paiton I 1,230 MW coal-fired power plant, both located in East Java, and Muara Karang 780-MW and Tanjung Priok combined cycle power plants, both located in Jakarta.
?We will try to get the system online in the next 3 hours,? he said. He, however, said PLN still couldn?t figure out why power supply from those power plant dropped simulatenously.
Java-Bali electricity system went off around 10 AM this morning, causing blackout all over Indonesia?s most populated islands. (godang)
