Update: Majors among bidders of 2nd round offering

Director general of oil and gas Iin Arifin Takhyan said on Thursday that US oil giant ExxonMobil, French oil, gas giant Total SA, Malaysian state oil firm Petronas are among 15 companies submitted bidding for 8 blocks out of 11 blocks offered in this year?s second round exploration acreage offering.
?Local companies include Kondur Petroleum, Exspan Nusantara,? said Iin.
Government closed bid submission for the tender on Thursday with winner announcement expected in early September.
In February, government opened the tender for 11 exploration blocks, 7 of which are located offshore East Java, 1 in Central Java, 2 in Jambi and 2 in east Kalimantan. Government offered more generous incentives including bigger contractors? split for the second round offering after first round offering held earlier this year had only succeed to award 1 out of the 17 blocks offered.
