In his speech during the installment ceremony, Purnomo urged Priyono to enhance the capability of the agency?s human resources, supervision of production sharing contractors and maintain amicable relations with stakeholders.
He also noted that BPMIGAS was in the final stage of restructuring and new faces will soon been appointed to fill in top positions in the agency.
Rumors say Purnomo will soon replace the agency?s vice chairman and deputies.
Following his replacement, Kardaya will return to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, where he served as a senior official before being appointed as BPMIGAS? chairman several years ago.
Priyono was selected by the House of Representatives from three candidates proposed by the government.
In his 100-day program unveiled recently, Priyono promised to set up a task force to increase the country?s crude oil production to one million barrels a day, to cut down cost recovery and to simplify bureaucracy in the agency as well as to improve coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
He will also speed up the processing of work planning and budgeting (WP&B) and authorization for expenditure (AFE) and the revitalization of the agency's role as the supervisor and, above all, as partner of cooperation contract holders.
"We need to underline (BPMIGAS) as partner, not as a bureaucratic agency but a facilitator," he said. (Alex)
