Uranium reserves in West Kalimantan's Sintang reach 10,000 tons

Uranium reserves in the Kalan area in Sintang regency of the West Kalimantan province is estimated to reach 10,000 tons, according to an official of the National Atomic Energy Agency (Batan).
Iyas Subki was quoted by the state Antara news agency as saying that there were more areas in the province with uranium potential, which had not been explored because of Batan's limited funding ability.
Iyas Subki welcomes investors to help finance the exploration activity.
Meanwhile, West Kalimantan Governor Aspar Aswin said that the province's uranium potential should be feasible to develop a nuclear power generating facility in the province.
But he said that such a plans must need the strong support of the local people. (*)
