US firms to develop solar power station in NTT

PT Inti Solusi Optima, a subdiary of a United States-based company, plans to build a solar power station with capacity of 60 megawatt in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to help cope with the power shortage in the province, Tempo.co reported on Wednesday.

Thobias Uly, the head of the investment coordinating board at the province, said in Kupang on Wednesday that the company would spend up to US$30 million or Rp 291 billion to build the solar power plant.

The US company would build a solar power station in the Bolok industrial area in Kupang regency, he said, adding the government was still drafting the cooperation document with the company.

According to him, as many as 103 foreign companies have invested in NTT at present, with total investment of about Rp 3 trillion. They are mostly engaged in hotel, mining and trading. (*)
