Use of local content a priority: Wacik

In order to create a greater multiplier effect, projects related with companies operating in oil and gas sector, and energy sector in general, must use as much local content as possible, said Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik.

"We have many large-scale projects in oil and gas fields, in mining industry as well as in renewable energy. I want to make sure that the greater use of locally produced equipments becomes a national movement," Wacik told reporters over the weekend.

He added that his ministry is always looking for ways, in the form of legal framework, to support the move. He did not elaborate.

A successful drive towards this movement would create a more vibrant domestic industry that supports energy projects, opening up more employment opportunities.
