UT develops power plant in C. Kalimantan

IDX-listed heavy equipment and mining firm PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), through subsidiary PT Energia Persada Nusantara (EPN) is developing a 2x15 MW coal-fired power plant in Central Kalimantan.
UT Finance Director Iwan Hadiantoro said that construction progress of the power plant project has reached 70 percent.
The electricity output will be mostly used to support the group's mining operation, while the remainder to be sold to state electricity firm PT PLN.
He said that the project requires an estimated investment of US$ 30 million.
Iwan did not say when the project will be completed.
Meanwhile, UT Corporate Secretary Sara Lubis said that EPN is the company's subsidiary in charge of its recent entry into the power business.
She said that PT Unitra Persada Energia, which is teaming up with Sumitomo in the expansion of the Tanjung Jati coal-fired power plant, will be under EPN.
