South Kalimantan coal mining PT Dasa Eka Jasatama (DEJ), a unit of IDX-listed heavy equipment distributor and coal miner PT United Tractors (UT), sold 2.398 million tons of coal in 2009, significantly down from 3.676 million tons in the same period of 2008.
DEJ's coal sales also down in December period to 201,000 tons from 266,000 tons of the same period last year, UT said in a statement last week.
In earlier statement, UT said that it would cut coal production due to softening demand from customers. UT Corporate Secretary Sara Loebis told Petromindo.Com in May last year that DEJ customers are either reducing volume or hold back delivery to latter date due to global economic crises.
DEJ's coal is sold to Noble Group and Glencore AG under terms contract. (denny)
