UT reports increased April coal and heavy-equipment sales

Heavy equipment and mining firm PT United Tractors (UT) reported on Monday that its coal mining units PT Dasa Eka Jasatama (DEJ) in South Kalimantan and PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA) in Central Kalimantan sold 313,000 tonnes and 103,000 tonnes in April, respectively.

In comparision, DEJ?s produced 195,000 tonnes in the same period of last year, while TTA started production in December last year.

Cumulative coal production of UT?s mines as of April reached 1.42 million tonnes, up significantly compared to the same period of last year's 939,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, UT?s mining contractor subsidiary PT Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama) produced 6.1 million tonnes of coal in April, slightly down from last year?s 6.2 million tonnes. Its overburden production rose to 60.1 million bcm, from 51.6 million bcm.

Pama's coal and overburden production as of April in 2011 totalled 25.4 million tonnes and 227.7 million bcm, an increase compared to the corresponding year of 24.7 million tonnes and 205.1 million bcm, respectively.

The firm sold a total of 2,974 units of Komatsu heavy equipment as of April of the year, which is a jump from 1,685 in the same period of last year. Of 2,974 units that sold as of April, 2.030 units are sold to mining sector. (denny)
