UT reports increased coal sales

Heavy equipment and mining firm PT United Tractors (UT) reported on Monday that its coal mining units PT Dasa Eka Jasatama (DEJ) in South Kalimantan and PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA) in Central Kalimantan sold 254,000 tonnes and 115,000 tonnes in March, respectively.

Compared to the same period of last year, DEJ?s production slightly declined from 261,000 tonnes, while TTA had yet to produce in March last year. TTA started production in December last year.

Cumulative coal production of UT?s mines as of March reached 1 million tonnes, higher compared to the same period of last year's 744,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, UT?s mining contractor subsidiary PT Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama) produced 6.7 million tonnes of coal in March, up from last year?s 6.3 million tonnes. Its overburden production rose to 56.9 million bcm, from 54.4 million bcm.

Pama's coal and overburden production during first three months in 2011 totalled 19.2 million tonnes and 167.5 million bcm, respectively.

The firm sold a total of 2,207 units of Komatsu heavy equipment in the first three months of the year, up from 1,218 in the same period of last year. (denny)
