UT?s coal production jump in May

IDX-listed heavy-equipment distributor and coal mining firm PT United Tractors (UT) Tbk reported Monday that coal production during May period reached 373,000 tonnes from its two coal mines in PT Dasa Eka Jasatama (DEJ) and PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA).

Of the total 373,000 tonnes, DEJ contributed 282,000 tonnes, almost three times its output in the same period of last year, which reached 96,000 tonnes. The remaining 91,000 tonnes came from TTA mine.

TTA mine started first coal production in the end of 2010.

As of May, cumulative coal production from UT reached 1.79 million tonnes, up significantly compared to the same period last year of 1.04 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, UT?s mining contractor unit PT Pamapersada Nusantara produced 7 million tonnes in May, up from 6.7 million in the same period of last year. Pama?s overburden also increased to 67.4 million bcm from 55.5 million bcm in May 2010.

UT sold a total of 3,591 units of Komatsu heavy equipment as of May of the year, which is a jump from 2,225 in the same period of last year. Of 3,591 units that sold as of May, 2,435 units are sold to mining sector. (denny)
