UT starts C. Kalimantan coal mine trial production

IDX-listed heavy equipment distributor and miner PT United Tractors (UT) said on Tuesday that its Tuah Turangga Agung mine in Central Kalimantan has started trial coal production on Monday.

The company said commercial production would be achieved in the first quarter of 2010 with production target of 1 million tonnes in the first year with installed capacity of 3MTPA to be reached in 2012.

The company said during the trail period, it would produce 25,000 tonnes of coal per month during the trail period.

Corporate Secretary Sara Loebis told Petromindo.Com that thus far, coal production from the mine has no offtaker, but talks with interested parties are on going. She did not give detail.

TTA has concession area of around 5,000 hectares in Kapuas Tengah regency with estimated mineable reserves of 40 million tonnes. The mine produces coal with CV of 6,320 kcal/kg (adb), 5,890 kcal/kg (GAR), sulfur 0.47%, ash 10.48% and HGl 48. (denny)
