UT unit seeks to sell semi hard coking coal to Japan

Central Kalimantan coal producer PT Suprabari Mapanindo Mineral is looking to sell its semihard coking coal production from its central Kalimantan mine to Japanese steel mills.

?We are aiming to sell our coal to Japan market and has been talking with several customers for potential long-term engagement,? President Director Niko Tahir told Petromindo.com on Friday.

Suprabari plans to start production later this year with planned production of 300,000 tonnes, ramping up to 1.5 million tonnes next year.

He declined to give further detail about the marketing progress.

He said preparations are underway for the mine to start production.

IDX-listed firm PT United Tractors Tbk hrough subsidiary PT Tuah Turangga Agung (TTA) acquired 80.1 percent shares in Suprabari from Vasse Holdings Pte, PT Cipta Olah Alam Lestari, and individuals Salman Ernawan and Eddy Winata in October last year.
