Vale conducting Amdal study to increase nickel output

IDX-listed PT Vale Indonesia, a unit of the world's second-largest nickel producer plans to ramp up output of nickel-in-matte to 130,000 tons per year from the current output of 73,000 tons.
Nickel-in-matte is an intermediate products from lateritic ores produced by smelting.
The company also plans to build nickel smelting in Bahodopi.
The company in the announcement at newspaper said on Friday that it is currently conducting study on environmental impact analysis (amdal) to realize the plan.
The amdal document approval should be issued at the level of Ministry of Environment as the project would be take place across two provinces namely South Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi.
