IDX-listed integrated nickel mining company PT Vale Indonesia Tbk hopes to be able obtain the required environmental impact assessment approval and forest utilization license for its Pomalaa mining block in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, in the third quarter of this year.

?God Willing (in the third quarter), that?s what we?re hoping. The sooner the better for us,? said Vale Indonesia President Director Nico Kanter on Monday to Petromindo.com.

Vale is teaming up with Japan?s Sumitomo Metal Mining Co Ltd to build a smelter in Pomalaa that will recover nickel and cobalt from low-grade nickel oxide ores.
