Vale Indonesia appoints new commissioners

IDX-listed integrated nickel mining company PT Vale Indonesia Tbk said it has appointed Robert Morris and Akira Nozaki as new members of its board of commissioners.
The company said in a statement that the appointment of Morris and Nozaki, to fill in vacant position left by Kevin Graham and Mikinobu Ogata, at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders Wednesday.
The statement provides the following brief profile of Morris and Nozaki.
Robert Morris is Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Base Metals business. His role also includes oversight for product flow and logistics, the management of a network of global sales offices, and accountability for our Asian refineries. His strong leadership supports Base Metals? execution against targets and contributes to sustainable, profitable growth.
With extensive international experience, Morris has held numerous senior positions with Vale since 2005 in Germany, Japan and now Toronto. Prior to joining Vale, Robert held management position in New York, Belgium and Shanghai.
In addition to his Degree in Economics earned at the University of Calgary, Morris has earned several management certificates from MIT, INSEAD and IMD. Robert is also the Chairman of the Nickel Institute, a global organization that represents the Nickel Industry in science, public policy and market development.
Akira Nozaki is currently the Director, Executive Officer and General Manager of Non-Ferrous Metals Division of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (Sumitomo), a position that he has held since June 2015. In this role, he is responsible for strategy and operation and business development of the Division.
He has held various operations and project management positions in the field of copper, nickel and catalyst in Sumitomo, and served as a General Manager of Nickel Sales and Raw Materials Department succeeded by Deputy General Manager of Administration Department of Sierra Gorda Project (Chile) Division and General Manager of Corporate Planning Department prior to assuming his current position.
Nozaki has a BA from Waseda University, and joined Sumitomo in 1984.
