ERM Certification and Verification Services (ERM CVS), an independent auditor accredited by the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA), will conduct an on-site assessment of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk’s mining operations in Sorowako, South Sulawesi, from December 1–5, 2025.
According to a statement on IRMA’s website, the audit will evaluate PT Vale’s performance against the IRMA Standard for Responsible Mining, which includes more than 400 social, environmental, and governance criteria.
During the visit, ERM CVS auditors will inspect mine facilities and meet with local communities, employees, and government representatives to gather input on the company’s operational practices and impacts.

The results will be published in a publicly accessible report on IRMA’s website. The report will detail the mine’s audit scores and determine its overall achievement level — IRMA Transparency, IRMA 50, IRMA 75, or IRMA 100 — reflecting compliance with responsible mining standards.
ERM CVS invited stakeholders to share feedback or request interviews before November 21, 2025. “Your insights will help assess the social, environmental, and economic impacts of PT Vale’s operations and measure its alignment with responsible mining best practices,” the auditor said.
The audit findings will serve as a reference for PT Vale Indonesia to strengthen its sustainability performance and as a basis for ongoing dialogue with stakeholders on continuous improvement in responsible mining.
