Vale reports higher nickel production in RI

Global mining giant Vale SA said that production of nickel in matte from its Sorowako operations in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, totaled 19,200 tons, or 2,100 tons higher than the output in the first quarter of this year.
?This (Q2 production) resulted in an output of finished nickel sourced from Sorowako - which is primarily processed at the Matsuzaka refinery in Japan - of 18,300 tons, 5.1 percent higher than first quarter of 2013,? Vale said on Wednesday.
The Brazil-headquartered Vale is the parent company of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, formerly known as PT International Nickel Indonesia.
