Vale reports record production in RI

Vale SA said that production of nickel in matte from its Indonesian operations at Sorowako, in South Sulawesi, reached a record of 22,100 tons in the third quarter of this year, or up 14.7 percent from output level in the corresponding period of last year.

The third quarter output was also 15.15 percent higher compared to the second quarter of this year, the company said in a statement Monday.

?In the first half of 2015, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PTVI) underwent major maintenance work on furnaces #1, #2 and #4, all of which were fully operational by 3Q15,? Vale said, referring to its Indonesian subsidiary company, which is listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Vale further said that production of finished nickel from PTVI in the third quarter reached 19,800 tons, 47.9 percent higher than in the second quarter of this year as the availability of matte from PTVI was restored after the maintenance shutdowns carried out in the first semester.
