Vedanta Resources: Global Tender Inquiry For Supply of Non Coking Coal

Vedanta Resources PLC is a London Stock Exchange Listed and FTSE 250 international metals and mining major with interest in Aluminium, zinc, copper, silver and lead, having operations in India, Australia and Africa. It holds its interest in these businesses in India through its operating companies Starlite Industries (India) Ltd. (SIIL) in copper, Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) and Madras Aluminium Company ltd. (MALCO) in aluminium and Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (HZL) in zinc and lead.

Offers are invited from well established mine owners, accredited coal suppliers having past experience for supply of non-coking coal in handymax/panamax size parces (based suitability) on FOB/CIFFO basis for HZL, BALCO and MALCO.

The coal is to be supplied on spot/long term (period 1-3 years, pricing quarterly basis) starting from December 2005. The tenderer to quote price on FOB Load port as well CIFFO Mundra/Navlakhi/Vizag/ Chennai port basis. Tender inquiry can be downloaded from our website www.hzlindia.com. Respective contracting companies HZL/BALCO/MALCO reserves the right to accept or reject any /all tenders, procure through e-bidding or follow any other process of finalization of tenders at its sole discretion.
