VICO gas production at historic low on compressors trouble

Gas production from East Kalimantan gas producer VICO Indonesia fell to the historic low of 590 MMCFD last week after two small compressors broke down for 2 days, a BPMIGAS official said over the weekend.

BPMIGAS deputy chairman in charge of operations Trijana Kartoatmodjo said that gas production at VICO, which supplies gas to Badak Natural Gas Liquefaction in Bontang gets back to 620 MMCFD level after the compressors are being repaired.

Gas production from VICO is steadily declining on declining reserves. VICO, which operates Sanga-Sanga PSC is equally owned by Anglo-American oil giant BP Plc and Italian oil firm Eni SpA.

VICO together with Unocal Indonesia and French oil giant Total are suppliers to Badak NGL. VICO and Unocal could not meet the budgeted production allocation of 800 MMCFD and 400 MMCFD this year while Total exceeds production allocation target of 2.5 BCFD by 300 MMCFD.

VICO and Unocal?s production decline forces Badak NGL to reduce cargoes shipments to its East Asian customers. (godang)
