Oil and gas producer VICO Indonesia Wednesday handed over a 22.6-kilometer road it had built to Kutai Kartanegara regency administration in East Kalimantan where the company has oil and gas operations, local daily Kaltim Post reported.

Locals were expected to use the road, which links Tanjung Limau village to Sebuntal village in Kutai Kartanegara, and stop passing through another road specially built for inspecting natural gas pipelines, the paper said.

VICO Indonesia president & CEO Simon C Potter symbolically transferred ownership of the newly built road to Kutai Kartanegara regent Syaukani HR who then officially launched the operation of the project.

Vico Indonesia, partly owned by BP Plc, operates oil and gas fields in East Kalimantan, supplying gas to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Bontang owned by PT Badak NGL. (*)
