The head of Batu Kajang village in Pasir regency, East Kalimantan, has threatened to take legal action against PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia (TCI) if the company declines to allow employees who have been suspended to return to work, the Kaltim Post daily said Tuesday.

In a letter to the management of TCI, the contractor of coal mining firm PT Kideco Jaya Agung, the village head insisted the company to observe the rights of the employees.

The village head also said that the would gather local informal leaders to reject the existence of TCI if the company failed to resolve dispute with the employees.

TCI has suspended the employees, mostly local villagers, for joining a labor strike organized by the militant SBSI labor union.(*)
