A group of villagers blocked Kitadin?s hauling road since Thursday, paralyzing the company?s mining activities, a company official said Monday.
?Thus far shipment is unaffected due to sufficient coal stockpile. But if the blockade continues there will be disruption in shipment,? said Leksono Poeranto, senior official of Kitadin parent company Banpu Indonesia
The Kertabuana villagers demanded the unit of Banpu Plc. to be responsible over their resettlement.
Kitadin is producing some 7,000 tons of coal per day.
Last June, hundreds of villagers also blocked blockaded the operation of Kitadin for a week, forcing the company to stop its coal production. The protesters demanded compensation for the environmental damage such as flood caused by the mining operation. (godang)
