Villagers complain leakage in Pertamina pipeline

The villagers in the Kebundren area in Prabumulih, South Sumatra, has complained the leakage in the pipeline of state-owned oil and gas company, according to the local Sriwijaya Post daily.
The paper quoted villagers as saying that the leak has polluted the water in the area. They said that they had to go to the neighboring area to get the water for drinking, cooking, washing and bath.
Meanwhile, Prabumulih Pertamina spokesman Hasyim Ali said that the company has sent its technicians to fix the leakage. He also said that the company would investigate whether the water pollution was caused by the pipeline leakage or other factors.
He said that Pertamina would pay compensation if the water pollution was caused by the company. (*)
