Villagers demand Medco to pay compensation

A group of villagers from the Bunyu area in East Kalimantan have accused PT Medco Methanul Bunyu of polluting their fish ponds, which have caused a serious drop in fish harvest since 1997.
The local Kaltim Post daily reported that the villagers had demanded Medco to pay compensation.
The villagers also appealed to local councilors to push Medco to provide the compensation.
The villagers claimed that Medco?s waste products had polluted their fish ponds and killed their fish.(*)
