Villagers demand revenue share from coal firm

A group of people claiming to be the inheritor of the Sultan of Kutai Negara in East Kalimantan demanded coal mining company PT Anugerah Bara Kaltim (ABK) to provide revenue share.

The group, led by local businessmen Aji Nayan, said that the parcel of land in the Bakungan Village in Loa Duri area which has been exploited by ABK was their cultural land.

They demanded the company to provide revenue share from the coal mining operation.

The company management received representatives of the grouping on Friday, but the negotiation was stalled when company coal trucks was stopped by members of the protesting villagers.(*)
