Villagers protest Kitadin over land compensation

A group of 12 villagers of the Kerta Buana village in Tenggarong, East Kalimantan, demanded coal-mining company PT Kitadin to pay a compensation for their land acquired by the company.
The villagers lawyer Udin Mulyono was quoted by the local Suara Kaltim daily as saying that Kitadin had paid the compensation for the 10 hectares of land to the wrong people.
Udin said that his clients had the necessary documents that the land belong them.
He said that his clients didn't know that there their land had been transferred to Kitadin until they saw the company's heavy equipments made some digging in the area.
Udin also said that Kitadin so far continued to claim that the compensation had been given to the right owner of the land.
He said that if the company would not negotiate with his clients, he would proceed the case to the Tenggarong Court. (*)
